There is hope.
You can regain control.
There are brighter days ahead.
Charlotte has written this book as her gift to anyone suffering from chronic fatigue, long covid or extreme tiredness. It’s a beautifully illustrated and uplifting story of hope that takes very little effort to read but will guide you on an achievable, manageable road to recovery. As you read, you’ll gently uncover ideas and approaches that you can use right away to start your own journey from fatigue to freedom. Now available to pre-order from Amazon or Gazelle.
Charlotte knows how it feels to be exhausted all the time and too tired to even lift your head off the pillow. She’s experienced first-hand the desperate, debilitating feelings of frustration, despair and sadness that so often accompany chronic fatigue. And she knows how confused, overwhelmed, and lonely you probably feel right now.
Over the years, she has researched how to best help her own road to recovery and has written this book to share her accumulated knowledge and wisdom with you. A fantastical journey of discovery for the character Angela, learn alongside her as she treks through a magical land, how you can easily implement change in your behaviours, eating, mindset and more to make a positive impact on your recovery.
The fascinating characters you’ll encounter in this story (see Hana Habit right) will each equip you with a toolbox of powerful ideas, techniques and solutions in a variety of these areas. Through their experiences you’ll discover how to manage your energy levels, understand the importance of rest and repair and start to feel empowered with the belief that recovery is not only possible, but entirely in your hands.
There’s no baffling science or confusing jargon, just an inspiring and motivating tale that’s brimming with helpful and hopeful golden nuggets that you can collect and use to support you as you heal.
‘Hana Habit’
‘Angela’
“So I have a diagnosis but no treatment. What on earth am I supposed to do now? I feel completely devastated. To be told I have CFS and must put up with it is utterly demoralising. I’ve had the rug pulled from under me. I feel I have no control over my life. I feel disempowered. I’ve been told there’s nothing I can do but rest”.
Angela then goes on a journey to help her to understand how to start her recovery by getting out of the fight and flight response and into the rest and repair response to allow the body to recover and heal. She is given 10 magic marbles which physically appear or disappear depending on how she uses her energy . She meets 12 glorious characters along the way who help her to understand how to achieve this and they give her techniques and suggestions as to what and how to do it. Each character will make you smile, and they will give you ideas from gut health and nutrition to mindset and breathing techniques.
At the end of her journey she is back home, sits in her favourite chair
“I sit down on my favourite velvet green chair with my water and herbal tea and enjoy this new me. I pick up one of my favourite books, Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, and it falls open at the page that says, ‘One day you’ll see how hard it was and how brave you were …”
When you are struggling, reading a book full of hope that will whisk you away in a magical story but full of easy to do tips and ideas is uplifting. Don’t you want some of that? I certainly did which is why I wrote it. I needed this book. My family and friends needed this book. My GP needed this book. Story telling is so important and those days of sitting around the campfires and sharing stories is still within us. I love stories and I hope this story will empower you and help you to feel back in control when you may feel lost.
So lay back, relax and read your way to a better recovery!
Hello, I am Charlotte, the author of From Fatigue to Freedom. I needed this book when I was struggling, in bed with no energy. I am a registered nutritionist and graduate of the Nutritional Healing Foundation. I spent 12 years as a physiotherapist, 10 years as a lecturer of Anatomy and Physiology and also completed numerous psychology programmes and courses to understand the mind-body connection.
I had CFS at age 26, and again at age 50 and then Long COVID. I was knocked sideways, it was a tough rollercoaster and recovery was challenging as it took years …but I was determined to come out the other side the healthiest I’ve ever been. Through trying and failing with many different methods, I finally have!
It is now my mission to share what I have learnt with as many people as possible now suffering with energy depletion, raise awareness and action for CFS and create an understanding and supportive place for those with it. I hope and know that what helped me can help others in a similar way. A vital and under-stated part of the process is the development of a strong mind-body connection: learning to tune in to yourself to better provide what you need.
I run my own health courses which are about healing the body naturally and I am a mentor and guide to many. My children would describe me as health obsessed, but I realised that being so was the only way I would really beat my energy problems.
It is never too late to take a step on your journey to fatigue freedom!
